The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has begun construction work on the reconstruction of the ‘Serhetabat’ customs post

The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is commencing construction work on the reconstruction of the ‘Serhetabat’ customs post, located on the Turkmen-Afghan border. Construction work will be carried out by the ‘Sapaly Geljek’ business entity between 2025 and 2027. During the construction period, the existing building will be completely reconstructed, and several new buildings and structures will be constructed. The project also includes the installation of a new X-ray vehicle inspection machine and the widespread implementation of a digital system for customs procedures.

As a result of these works, the customs post's throughput capacity is expected to increase to 500 vehicles per day, which is 2.5 times greater than the current design capacity of the customs post.

The ‘Serhetabat’ customs post is one of the most important customs points for Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover and for the transportation of transit cargo along the ‘Lapis Lazuli’ and several other international transport corridors.
